Other Information

Birthdays:

You may send cupcakes or treats to school for your child’s birthday.  Please send me a message letting me know ahead of time so that it may not conflict with something else in our day.  I will be checking allergies as soon as I can.  Cupcakes/treats may be left in the office first thing in the morning.  Our birthday buddy and his/her classmates will enjoy these as it fits in our schedule on that given day.

Homework:

A short daily practice of skills taught at school or minutes studying for upcoming tests helps to ensure the success of your first grader.  Unless your child has make up work from an absence, there is no homework on the weekend.  Wednesday night work is optional for your child.

Please make sure you intital your child’s work after it is completed showing that you helped.  Please let your child write his/her own answers.  This is important to becoming great learners.  Students should be writing letters and numbers correctly on their work.

Again, first grade does not send an abundance of homework home.  Students may have more if they have been absent.  Stories sent home from our new CKLA series have usually been read in class.  Reading these should not take long.  You may wish to keep these for future review.

Monies:

Please send all money to school in an envelope or baggie labeled with yoour child’s name.  This includes Kona Ice and PTO concession money.  Much class time has been lost trying to find our who loose money may belong to.  Please pay close attention to due dates for fees for events such as these.
